Bob Marley Legend: Great Music or Something Much More?

The album Bob Marley Legend is one of the best premier albums of all history, especially in the realm of pop albums. Bob Marley Legend chronicles the career of Bob Marley and the Wailers, by having such classic tracks and all time hits as Buffalo Soldier, Stir it Up, Get Up Stand Up, Is This Love, and many others. Bob Marley is one of the greatest musicians of all time, and almost single-handedly pioneered the art of reggae music. It’s a testament to him that, despite the fact that he is probably more famous and known worldwide than all other reggae artists combined, he is stll loved and respected in his native Jamaica rather than resented for premanently upstanding the rest of the local music.

Bob Marley Legend was one of the first albums I’ve heard in college, which is a fairly typical story. Something about the smooth, classic groove of the Wailers lends itself to the rising, experimentation, and of course, partying of the dorm room experience. My first girlfriend in college was a huge Bob Marley Legend fan, and used to like to put it on whenever we were together. It’s just the most mellow thing possible, and I can’t imagine what life would be like if we didn’t have it.

Although he is listened to by fans of all types, Bob Marley Legend was originally radical music meant to advance the plight of average Jamaicans suffering from poverty and political disenchantment and disenfranchisement. Bob Marley himself always fought for being independent and the rights of ordinary people, and his radical spirit still lives on in the songs that he plays. Wailers songs are not just meant as party music, although of course, they are lots of fun to party too. They are meant to convey a thirst for justice and peace to the listener, and the hope for a better world.

Whenever I am feeling disillusioned with the way things are going, I like to put on Bob Marley Legend and think about a better kind world. It’s no wonder that it is liked by both hippies, frat boys, rastas, and college kids of all kinds. It captures the reality of life, the spirit of youth and rebellion which is missing from this day and age. The Wailers did more than revolutionise music – Bob Marley and his band with their mellow groove and deep bass hooks helped to revolutionize life itself for all of us.
